Melissa Blaylock is a part-time Lecturer in Biomedical Sciences at the University of Cumbria, where she has taught for nearly 12 months. She concurrently works as an Infection Sciences Team Manager at Cumberland Infirmary Carlisle, bringing over 10 years of professional experience as an HCPC-registered Biomedical Scientist specializing in Immunology and Virology. Her teaching focuses on laboratory skills and clinical case application through modules like Haematology and Transfusion Science, and Cellular and Molecular Pathology.
She emphasizes practical training, ethical discourse in bioethics modules, and student-led research via dissertation projects. Her dual role in academia and NHS education involves mentoring scientists for registration and fostering hands-on learning. Beyond academia, Blaylock teaches Ballet and Modern Jazz, blending her passion for education across disciplines.
