Alex Liversidge

Alex Liversidge is a Senior Lecturer in Biomedical Science at Leeds Beckett University's School of Health, with over 20 years of postgraduate experience as a Biomedical Scientist in both private sector and NHS settings. Specializing in Haematology and Blood Transfusion, she previously held roles as Training Manager at Leeds Teaching NHS Trust and Blood Bank Manager at Bradford Royal Infirmary.

Her research interests focus on improving healthcare practices for transgender and gender-diverse patients within transfusion science, informed by her ongoing PhD collaboration with the School of Social Sciences. She has pioneered an IBMS-accredited applied route in partnership with Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust to enhance student training and workforce planning.

Alex's teaching spans BSc and MSc Biomedical Science programs, emphasizing Haematology and Transfusion Science. She maintains an active role in NHS pathology labs as an advanced Biomedical Scientist, bridging clinical practice and academic education.
