Melis Ceylan is an Assistant Professor of Marketing at Heriot-Watt University's Edinburgh Business School within the School of Social Sciences. She holds an associate fellowship from Advance HE (AFHEA) and focuses on creating inclusive, student-centered learning environments through experiential learning strategies. Her research explores consumer behavior, with a focus on impression management, social exclusion, branding, and AI's role in consumer well-being.
Education: PhD in Marketing (2018, Koç University, Istanbul); Thesis: 'The Effects of Self-Conscious Emotions on Consumer Self-Control Behavior.'
Research Interests: Melis integrates marketing and social psychology to study consumer decision-making, particularly in areas like influencer marketing, sustainability, and AI applications. She investigates topics such as status signaling through food consumption, social affiliation via information sharing, and AI-human interactions in product recommendations.
