Melinda Whitmore

Melinda Whitmore is an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Painting and Drawing at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Her academic and artistic focus spans figurative art, anatomical drawing, and sculptural practices, with a strong emphasis on contemporary realism and art education.

• BA in Art History and Studio Art from Indiana University, Bloomington (1994)
• MFA from New York Academy of Art (1997)

Her research explores the intersection of anatomical structures and artistic representation through both two-dimensional and three-dimensional mediums. Courses she teaches include advanced anatomical drawing, ecorche sculpture, and figurative art techniques.

Her work has been exhibited at institutions such as the Fort Wayne Museum of Art, Dow Museum of Science and Art, and Brookgreen Gardens Sculpture Museum. She is recognized in publications like Poets & Artists and Fine Art Connoisseur, and her art resides in notable private collections.
