John Horn

John Horn is an Associate Professor in the Department of Drawing and Sculpture at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (PAFA), where he plays a vital role in sustaining the classical tradition within the sculpture program. He also teaches at the New York Academy of Figurative Art, contributing to figurative art education nationally.

His educational background includes a BFA and MFA, with formative studies under Walter Erlebacher in Philadelphia and Richard McDermitt Miller in Soho. His deep engagement with classical techniques was further developed during 12 years in Italy, where he trained at Studio Simi in Florence and apprenticed at Henreaux Marble Studios in Querceta.

Horn's research and artistic interests center on figurative sculpture, marble carving, mold-making, and restoration. His work integrates historical methods with contemporary practice, informed by collaborations with archaeologists at the Capitoline Museum in Rome and mentorship under Romolo Felice, mold maker for Giacomo Manzù.

His expertise and teaching have significantly enriched PAFA’s academic environment, particularly in classical sculpture education. He continues to accept private commissions and exhibit in major cities such as New York and Philadelphia.
