معرفی
Melinda Sebők is an Associate Professor at the Department of Modern Hungarian Literature, Comparative Literature and Literary Theory at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Károli Gáspár University of the Reformed Church in Hungary. She has been with the university since 2013, following previous academic positions at Eötvös Loránd University Teacher Training College (2004-2012) and teaching roles at secondary schools. Her academic career spans Hungarian literary studies with a focus on 20th century Hungarian literature.
Dr. Sebők earned her PhD in Hungarian Literary Studies from Eötvös Loránd University in 2008 with a dissertation titled "The Death-Motif of the Landscape in György Rónay and János Pilinszky's Poetry." She obtained her MA in Hungarian Language and Literature from the same institution in 2003. Additional qualifications include an English Language and Literature degree (2002) and an English-Hungarian Literary Translation certificate (2003).
Her research focuses on the literature of Nyugat (a prominent Hungarian literary journal), the works and correspondence of Mihály Babits, Oszkár György, and György Rónay, modern Hungarian poetry after 1945, and literature pedagogy. She has made significant contributions to understanding the connections between Hungarian literary figures, the aesthetics of silence in Pilinszky's poetry, and the reception of classical Hungarian poets like Petőfi and Vörösmarty in 20th century literature.
Her publications reveal a consistent focus on Hungarian literary modernism, particularly examining the works of Babits Mihály through archival materials including correspondence. Recent work shows increasing attention to the aesthetics of silence in Pilinszky's poetry, the reception of classical Hungarian poets in modern literature, and the exploration of literary relationships between key figures of 20th century Hungarian literature.
Dr. Sebők has received numerous prestigious awards throughout her career:
- Lánczos Kornél – Szekfű Gyula Scholarship (2009, 2012, 2017)
