Melanie Wilson is the Dean and Roy L. Steinheimer Jr. Professor of Law at Washington and Lee University School of Law, appointed in July 2022. She previously served as Dean and Lindsay Young Distinguished Professor at the University of Tennessee College of Law (2015-2020) and held faculty/administrative positions at the University of Kansas School of Law including Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Director of Diversity and Inclusion.
Her research focuses on criminal justice reform, with expertise in the Fourth Amendment, Sixth Amendment, prosecutorial ethics, and legal education innovation. She co-authored the textbook Criminal Procedure, Ninth Edition and has published extensively in leading law journals including the Iowa Law Review and Utah Law Review.
