Melanie Kubandt

Prof. Dr. Melanie Kubandt is a Professor for Didactics of Social Pedagogy at the University of Osnabrück since 2022. She is affiliated with the Institute of Educational Science, Department of General Educational Science, Social Pedagogy and Early Education, focusing on qualitative research methods and the integration of pedagogical cross-sectional dimensions like gender, diversity, and digitalization within social pedagogical institutions.

Her research interests revolve around the didactics of social pedagogy and early childhood education, examining how childhoods are socio-pedagogically processed in educational infrastructure. Key projects include the SoWeKi subproject (2025–2029) under the SOBIS initiative, analyzing children’s social worlds in vocational school qualifications, and a DFG-funded network (2020–2024) exploring methodological approaches to interpreting children’s drawings in qualitative research.

She has led studies on gender differentiation in daycare settings, transitions in schooling during the pandemic, and family center pedagogical frameworks.
