Michaela Hopf

Professor Michaela Hopf is a full-time faculty member at Düsseldorf University of Applied Sciences within the Faculty of Social Sciences and Cultural Studies. Her academic work focuses on early childhood education and related pedagogical approaches.

Her research spans multiple dimensions of early childhood development and education. Professor Hopf specializes in early scientific education, documentary methodology, and professional-child interactions within daycare settings. She has significant expertise in early intervention programs, early childhood education processes, and childhood research. Her work examines pedagogical concepts of early childhood and professionalization within daycare centers, with particular attention to language promotion and linguistic education in early childhood settings. She also explores sustained shared thinking approaches and broader childhood pedagogy frameworks.

For the Summer Semester 2025, Professor Hopf is conducting research while also teaching the interdisciplinary seminar 'SchutzKoGe - Schutzkonzept für Geflüchtetenunterkunft aus Kinderperspektive' (Protection Concept for Refugee Accommodations from Children's Perspective) in collaboration with Professor Dr. Kerstin Terhardt.

Her teaching subjects include scientific theories and research methods in early childhood education. She maintains an office in Building 3, Floor 1, Room 03.1.19 at the university's Münsterstraße 156 campus in Düsseldorf.
