Mei-fen Kuo is a Lecturer in Contemporary Chinese Culture and History at Macquarie University's School of International Studies within the Department of Media, Communications, Creative Arts, Language and Literature. She teaches modern Chinese history with a focus on diaspora identity and transnational mobility.
- PhD in Social Science from La Trobe University
- Research Masters in History from Taiwan
Her research interests span Chinese diaspora studies, transnational history, printing culture, narrative identity, migration mobility, community politics, and Chinese diaspora entrepreneurship. Recent publications analyze qipao diplomacy, diaspora entrepreneurship, Cold War-era Chinese student integration, and Taiwan-Australia relations.
Major awards include the ARC Discovery Early Career Researcher Award (2015), Australian Endeavour Fellowship (2009), Taiwan Fellowship (2019), and Asia Study Grant (2022). She actively contributes to public discourse through media engagements and invited talks.
