Dr. Mei Li is a Lecturer in the Discipline of Media and Communication at the University of Sydney, affiliated with the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. She holds a PhD in International Communication from Macquarie University, alongside a BA in English and MA in International Communication.

Her research focuses on Public Diplomacy, Soft Power strategies, and the role of International Education as a diplomatic resource. She examines narrative contestation among states and diversity in higher education. Current projects explore China's public diplomacy in Australia and the Belt and Road Initiative's media reception.
Dr. Li's work bridges academia and industry, informed by her experience in media and higher education sectors. She collaborates globally through research networks and is a member of the China Studies Centre. Her publications include a monograph on Chinese television's soft power and contributions to leading journals like Public Relations Review and Journalism.
