Mehmetcan Soyluoglu is a PhD Candidate and Graduate Research Fellow at The Cyprus Institute's Science & Technology in Archaeology and Culture Research Center (STARC). He holds a BA in Classical Archaeology from Ankara University and an MA in Classical Archaeology of the Mediterranean from the University of Sheffield. His work focuses on Roman pottery analysis, maritime archaeology, and dendrochronology, with active participation in international archaeological projects.
Education:
- Bachelor of Arts in Classical Archaeology, Ankara University
- Master of Arts in Classical Archaeology of the Mediterranean, University of Sheffield
Research Interests: Mehmetcan's research spans Roman material culture, maritime archaeological methodologies, and dendrochronological dating techniques. He has contributed to excavations in Anatolia and Cyprus, emphasizing interdisciplinary approaches to cultural heritage preservation. Since 2017, he has collaborated with NGOs to promote cultural heritage initiatives in Cyprus.
Labs/Teams: He is currently based at the Dendrochronology Laboratory within STARC, advancing research in environmental and archaeological dating.
