Anna Karligkioti is a Ph.D. candidate in Osteoarchaeology and a Research Assistant at the Science & Technology in Archaeology Research Center (STARC) of the Cyprus Institute. She holds degrees in Prehistoric Archaeology from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (2018), Human Osteology and Funerary Archaeology from the University of Sheffield (2014), and History and Archaeology from the University of Ioannina (2010). Her research focuses on the biocultural analysis of human remains to explore identity dynamics in ancient Greece, particularly examining household, city, and national identity through skeletal evidence. Anna has extensive field experience, having participated in excavations across Greece, Cyprus, Albania, and Jordan, and has worked as a contract archaeologist for the Greek Ministry of Culture.
Her current doctoral research investigates the evolution of identity in ancient mainland Greece using a biocultural approach. Key research interests include osteoarchaeology, bioarchaeology of Mediterranean regions, and archaeological sciences. She has contributed to developing open-access resources like the STARC OSTEOARCH database and the Bi (bli) oArch bibliographic tool, aiding the documentation and sharing of osteoarchaeological data.
