Malin Holst is a Senior Lecturer in Osteoarchaeology at the University of York's Department of Archaeology and Managing Director of York Osteoarchaeology, a commercial archaeology firm. She joined the university in 2003 and specializes in bioarchaeology, focusing on paleopathology, peri-mortem trauma, and funerary practices across millennia. Her research spans prehistoric to modern populations, emphasizing health, migration, and cultural practices.
Education: HND in Practical Archaeology (Dorset Institute of Higher Education), BA in Archaeology (University of Leicester), MSc in Osteology, Palaeopathology, and Funerary Archaeology (Universities of Bradford and Sheffield).
Research Interests: Weapon-related trauma in medieval conflicts (e.g., Towton Mass Grave), Roman health and burial rituals, Iron Age Arras cemeteries, and demographic studies. She has contributed to high-profile projects like the Raunds Area Project and Battle of Towton analysis.
Publications highlight industrial-era health, dental calculus analysis, and child labor impacts. Awards include the Vice Chancellor's Teaching Award (2013) and participation in King Richard III's reinterment ceremony (2015).
