Professor Megan Passey is a Professor of Rural Health at the University of Sydney, leading the Tobacco, Behaviour Change and Implementation stream at the Daffodil Centre and the University Centre for Rural Health. She holds a B Med (Hons), MPH, MSc, and PhD from Harvard School of Public Health and the University of Newcastle. Her research focuses on reducing health inequities in rural and Indigenous communities, particularly through tobacco control and strengthening primary healthcare systems.
Key areas of research include smoking cessation during pregnancy, improving Aboriginal maternal and child health, and enhancing primary healthcare for Indigenous Australians. Prof. Passey has led major initiatives such as the MOHMQuit trial (smoking cessation in maternity services) and the VOICE project (Indigenous patient experience measures). She has secured over $25 million in grants and published over 150 peer-reviewed articles.
