Megan Eagen-Jones (they/them) is an Assistant Professor in Musicology at the University of Illinois, specializing in pre-1650 European choral and vocal ensemble repertoire and Eurasian women’s musicking activities. They also serve as Director of Undergraduate Studies and have received recognition for their teaching excellence.

Their research explores the intersection of music, religious practices, and gender dynamics in early European and Eurasian contexts. Projects include a critical edition of Erasmus Rotenbucher’s 1551 pedagogical volume Bergkreyen and analyses of psalm motets in multi-religious sixteenth-century Augsburg.
Eagen-Jones’s scholarly contributions focus on early vocal ensemble genres, particularly motets, with attention to textual-musical relationships and religious sensibilities. Current pedagogical work includes a seminar on music history teaching methods and mentoring student writing in the context of generative AI.
