Blachly's work bridges scholarship and performance, emphasizing historical authenticity in choral performance. His recent projects include a book on Pythagorean influences in medieval and Renaissance music and articles exploring Tallis's 40-voice motet *Spem in alium*. Pomerium's recordings, including the 2013 anniversary release *A Voice in the Wilderness*, highlight his commitment to preserving and innovating in early music performance.
Blachly's academic contributions include articles on 12th-century Calixtinus music, Lassus/Palestrina performance, and the evolution of musical notation. His performances frequently integrate visual art projections to deepen audience engagement, as seen in the 2012 Notre Dame concert praised for its 'deeper dimension' of multimedia experience.
