Alan King is a Professor of Psychology at the University of North Dakota, specializing in Clinical Psychology. He joined UND in 1987 as a core member of the Clinical Psychology PhD program, previously serving as an Assistant Professor at the University of New Orleans and St. Joseph Seminary College. He has held administrative roles, including Director of Clinical Psychology Training (1989–1992; 1999–2012) and Clinic Director at the UND Psychological Services Center (2011–2012). His research focuses on childhood maltreatment, aggression, and personality development, with over 150 peer-reviewed publications. Dr. King has extensive clinical experience, including 25 years as a part-time private practitioner and supervisory roles in residency programs. He mentors doctoral, master's, and undergraduate students, emphasizing research in clinical psychology. Notable grants include a $625,282 Graduate Psychology Education Program grant (2004–2007). His work has been featured in media such as United Press International and Coast to Coast.
