Md Irteja Islam is a Research Fellow at the Sydney School of Public Health, Faculty of Medicine and Health, The University of Sydney, focusing on health inequalities, mental health, and global health challenges. He is also affiliated with the Sydney Southeast Asia Centre.

His research spans Cancer, Maternal and Child Health, Neurosciences, Mental Health, and Epidemiology, with emphasis on Adverse Childhood Experiences, Health Inequity, and Developmental Disorders. His work includes 2024 grants for studying asparaginase hypersensitivity in Vietnam.
