Md Bayzidur Rahman

Dr Md Bayzidur Rahman is a Senior Research Fellow at Macquarie University's Australian Institute of Health Innovation (AIHI) Centre for Health Systems and Safety Research. He holds adjunct positions as Senior Lecturer at UNSW Sydney and Adjunct Associate Professor at the University of Notre Dame Australia (UNDA). His roles include biostatistician and environmental epidemiologist with extensive teaching experience in biostatistics and epidemiology at postgraduate levels. He has supervised 7 PhD/DrPH, 23 masters, and 2 honours students. His research focuses on systematic reviews, meta-analyses, multilevel data analysis, environmental exposure assessment (e.g., water disinfection byproducts), spatial epidemiology, and climate change health adaptation in Bangladesh.

Education: PhD in epidemiology and biostatistics from the University of Sydney, following environmental science training in Bangladesh. Professional experience includes roles at NSW Ministry of Health's COVID-19 team, St Vincent’s Hospital, and international collaborations with icddr,b (Bangladesh), University of Chicago, and Cancer Council NSW.

Research interests span environmental health (arsenic exposure, lead contamination), non-communicable diseases, and health systems improvement. Notable projects include the Skin Health Study, arsenic exposure cohort studies, and cluster RCTs on climate adaptation in Bangladesh. His recent work addresses technology-related prescribing errors in pediatrics, socioeconomic determinants of bone health, and influenza epidemiology.

Collaborations span Australia, China, and Bangladesh. Over 77 peer-reviewed publications highlight contributions to public health, including influential studies on mask efficacy, statin-influenza interactions, and water disinfectant risks. His teaching includes curriculum development at UNSW and UNDA, plus biostatistics training in Bangladesh through BRAC and icddr,b.
