Nazia Rahman

Nazia Rahman is a PhD student in Virology at Charles Sturt University's School of Biomedical Science, Faculty of Science, under the mentorship of Prof Jade Kenneth Forwood. She concurrently serves as a Senior Research Officer at the International Centre for Diarrhoeal Disease Research, Bangladesh (icddr,b), where she has held roles since 2013, including Research Fellow and Research Officer.

Her education includes a Bachelor of Pharmacy from the University of Asia Pacific (2012), a Master of Science in Biotechnology (2015) from BRAC University, and a Master of Public Health (2020) from American International University-Bangladesh. She is registered with the Pharmacy Council of Bangladesh.

Rahman's research focuses on adenovirus genetic diversity, molecular mechanisms of viral pathogenesis, and public health interventions. Her work bridges virology, molecular biology, and clinical research to address infectious disease challenges in Bangladesh and globally. Key areas include understanding viral protein trafficking, antimicrobial resistance, and vaccine development.

Her scientific accolades include Magna Cum Laude (MPH) and Academic Distinction (MS Biotechnology). She contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to public health and education. Her research is supported by collaborations with institutions like the Australian Society for Microbiology and the American Society for Microbiology.

Rahman has published extensively on typhoid fever, shigellosis, and salmonellosis, emphasizing genomic epidemiology and vaccine efficacy. Her lab work includes optimizing diagnostic tools like the TPTest for typhoid and paratyphoid fever.
