Maxine Bonham is an Associate Professor in the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics at Monash University, Australia. She leads the Be Active Sleep eat (BASE) Facility at Notting Hill, focusing on nutrition and circadian biology research, particularly examining metabolic health impacts in night shift workers. Her work addresses sleep debt, dietary habits, and circadian misalignment, supported by grants totaling $1.43 million from NHMRC and National Heart Foundation.
Key research interests include nutrition interventions, meal timing strategies, and metabolic health optimization. She has pioneered studies on weight loss in shift workers, such as the SWIFt Study, and developed the Chrononutrition Questionnaire validated for shift work populations.
Prof. Bonham holds two significant awards: the Ross Hohnen Award (2016) and Payment for Exceptional Achievement (2018). She supervises nutrition programs and is the course convenor for Monash’s Bachelor of Nutrition Science. Her collaborative projects involve over 10 initiatives addressing paramedic health, physical activity counseling, and educational strategies in healthcare courses.
Her research spans 142+ outputs, emphasizing systematic reviews, clinical trials, and translational studies in metabolic health and chrononutrition, with recent focus on gestational diabetes prevention and polyphenol effects on circadian rhythms.
