Research Focus
Borrero's scholarship centers on three interconnected domains: the socio-cultural history of scarcity and hunger in revolutionary contexts, the global evolution of sports (particularly Soviet football), and Colombian oral histories. Current projects examine Asian culinary influences on Russian food culture and a biography of Soviet goalkeeper Lev Yashin.
His publications demonstrate sustained focus on Russian/Soviet social history, analyzing urban survival during conflicts and political dimensions of resource distribution. Works consistently engage with themes of state-society relations during periods of upheaval.
