Matthias Kleiner

Matthias Kleiner is a Professor at the Technical University of Dortmund, holding the Chair of Forming Technology since 1998. He has previously served as Dean and Vice Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering there. His research spans production engineering, forming technology, and interdisciplinary collaborations in computational intelligence and lightweight construction.

• Education: Diplom-Ingenieur in Mechanical Engineering (1982), Doktor-Ingenieur (1987), and Habilitation (1991) from the University of Dortmund.

His career includes leadership roles in academic organizations, such as President of the Leibniz Association (2014) and President of the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG, 2007–2012). He has coordinated major DFG research programs and served on strategic committees.
