Associate Professor Matthew Sunderland is a leading researcher at the Matilda Centre for Research in Mental Health and Substance Use at the University of Sydney. He holds concurrent appointments as an External Fellow at the Black Dog Institute and Visiting Fellow at the Australian National University. His work focuses on psychiatric epidemiology, comorbidity between mental and substance use disorders, and the development of psychometric tools to improve classification systems in mental health.
