Matthew Sigler is an Associate Professor of Worship and Historical Theology at Seattle Pacific University's Seattle Pacific Seminary. He holds a PhD in liturgical studies from Boston University (2015), an MA from Asbury Seminary (2007), and a BA from Huntingdon College (2001). Previously serving as a music minister for 12 years, his research focuses on Methodist liturgical heritage, historical worship practices, and the intersection of contemporary worship with denominational identity. He teaches courses in Wesleyan theology, liturgical studies, and Christian formation.

Dr. Sigler’s work emphasizes how historical liturgical practices can renew modern church communities. He is an ordained elder in the United Methodist Church and actively engages ecumenical worship dialogues.
His teaching philosophy prioritizes holistic formation, integrating intellectual rigor with embodied spiritual practices. He advises students in theological and liturgical studies and contributes to SPU’s Center for Worship initiatives.
