Matthew Schraeder is a Teaching Assistant Professor at West Virginia University's Department of Mathematics within the Eberly College of Arts and Sciences. He coordinates Trigonometry and dual-enrollment Calculus courses, and previously served as Lead Instructor for College Algebra and Pre-Calculus. His educational background includes a BSE in Electrical Engineering and BS in Mathematics from Gannon University (both Summa Cum Laude), followed by MS in Mathematics and PhD in Education from WVU.
His research focuses on mathematics pedagogy, including curriculum design, supplemental instruction methodologies, and calculus education techniques. Specific interests include feedback mechanisms for mathematical proofs and experiential learning approaches in trigonometry.
Schraeder has received academic honors including finalist status for the Eta Kappa Nu Outstanding Senior Award, and has won the Founder’s Day Electrical Engineering Award and Archbishop John Mark Gannon Award. He advises student organizations including the WVU Star Wars Club.
Beyond academia, he engages in extensive charity work through the 501st Legion and Rebel Legion organizations, holding leadership positions including President of regional chapters and coordinating charitable events.
