معرفی
Dr. Matthew Perkins is a Lecturer in Marine Conservation at the School of Biological and Marine Sciences, University of Plymouth. His research focuses on anthropogenic impacts on marine biodiversity, particularly how habitat complexity influenced by human activities (e.g., marine infrastructure, fishing) alters ecosystem structure and function. He employs stable isotope techniques to study food webs and integrates pure and applied ecology to address real-world challenges. Recent work emphasizes ecological engineering solutions for urbanized marine environments, such as mitigating coastal hardening and enhancing biodiversity through seawall modifications and offshore energy deployments.
Education background includes prior terrestrial ecology research and experience with stable isotope methodologies. His work bridges ecological theory and practical conservation strategies, addressing global challenges like habitat loss and climate change. Contact: matthew.j.perkins@plymouth.ac.uk
