Catie Gutmann Roberts is a Senior Research Fellow at the School of Biological and Marine Sciences, Bournemouth University. Her research focuses on aquatic ecology, freshwater conservation, and the ecological impacts of invasive species. She specializes in fish migration dynamics, early life stages of fish, and the role of citizen science in environmental management.
Teaching responsibilities include module leadership for Environmental Expedition and Environmental Management and Sustainability in Practice, alongside contributions to undergraduate modules like Biological Conservation and Sustainability Science. She also teaches on the master's level Ecological Survey Evaluation and Mitigation module.
- Supervised PhD students include Kate Vogiatzis (forest biomass post-wildfire), Rose Boardman (European eel phenology), and Vanessa de Santis (Barbus barbus impacts).
- Master's supervision includes Matthew Harris (parasite lifecycle studies).
Her work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals related to life below water and responsible consumption. She advocates for evidence-based conservation methods and community engagement through citizen science initiatives.
