Matthew McHugh

Matthew McHugh is an Adjunct Faculty member at the School of Art and Design, University of Northern Colorado, and Aims Community College since 2021. He holds an MFA in Drawing, Painting, and Printmaking from Purdue University (2021) and a BFA in Drawing with a minor in Arts Leadership and Administration from Colorado State University (2016).

His research/artistic practice focuses on self-contextualization through time, identity narratives, and mortality, drawing inspiration from paleolithic art, the sublime, and the uncanny. His work examines how vast temporal scales and global complexity relate to individual human experiences.

McHugh has participated in numerous juried exhibitions, including the 48th International Art Show (2023) and Not! An Art Fair (2021). His accolades include two first-place awards at the Brownsville Museum of Fine Art (2023) and the Artistic Merit Award from the Boulder Art Association (2022).
