Matthew Lee serves as a Part-Time Instructor of Applied Music at Southwestern University, specializing in violin instruction and performance training within the central Texas academic community.
His educational foundation includes a Bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin–Madison under Eugene Purdue and Soh-Hyun Park Altino, followed by a Master's degree and Artist Diploma from the University of Texas–Austin with Sandy Yamamoto.
Lee's performance expertise spans violin solo repertoire, chamber ensembles, and orchestral literature, demonstrated through nationwide concert appearances and masterclasses with renowned artists including Augustin Hadelich and Tasmin Little.
His competitive achievements feature top prizes in three major concerto competitions:
- Texas Music Festival Concerto Competition
- Brevard Music Center Concerto Competition
- University of Wisconsin–Madison Concerto Competition
Currently active as a core first violinist with the Austin Opera Orchestra and frequent substitute for the Austin Symphony, San Antonio Philharmonic, and Central Texas Philharmonic, Lee maintains a private teaching studio while instructing at multiple regional institutions beyond Southwestern University.
