Matthew Hill is Lecturer in Paramedicine at the University of the Sunshine Coast School of Health. With 10 years' clinical experience as an Advanced/Critical Care Paramedic with Queensland Ambulance Service, his research addresses mental health challenges in emergency services personnel.
Research focuses on psychological impacts of traumatic exposure in paramedics and their families, particularly:
- Secondary traumatic stress transmission to intimate partners
- Peer support system efficacy
- Occupational mental health interventions
- Long-term wellbeing strategies for first responders
His current PhD investigates trauma impacts on paramedic-partner dyads, developing frameworks for family-centered support systems in high-stress occupations.
