Dr. Matthew Harder is a composer, educator, percussionist, and recording engineer at West Liberty University, where he has served since 2005. Currently acting as Interim Chair of the Department of Music & Theater and Director of Music Technology, he focuses on creating acoustic and electroacoustic music for diverse mediums including concert stages, films, and audio installations. His work has been performed at numerous prestigious conferences and festivals such as the International Double Reed Society Conference, New York City Electroacoustic Music Festival, and the College Music Society Annual Conference.

Dr. Harder’s research and creative activities span music composition, technology integration, and performance. His department offers undergraduate degrees in Music Education, Performance, Technology, and a flexible Bachelor of Arts in Music, with ensembles ranging from the Marching Hilltoppers to the Electronic Music Ensemble.
