Dr. Matthew Fox is a Lecturer in Built Environment at the University of Plymouth's School of Art, Design and Architecture. His research focuses on sustainable architecture, including earth construction (CobBauge), thermography, building performance evaluation, and living wall systems. He actively collaborates with international projects like the EU-funded CobBauge initiative and the DeViz thermal imaging study. His work addresses thermal efficiency, construction defects, and indoor air quality in healthcare settings. Beyond academia, he operates Fox Eco Architects, specializing in low-energy natural materials.
- Research Projects: CobBauge (earthen construction optimization), Co-Designing CobBauge Futures (modular earth blocks), DeViz (construction defect mitigation), Living Walls (thermal benefits of green façades), Care Home IAQ (air quality in care facilities).
- Teaching: Leads modules on architectural design, building performance, and natural materials at undergraduate and master’s levels.
