Dr. Ozgur Gocer is a Senior Lecturer in Sustainable Design at the University of Sydney's School of Architecture, Design and Planning, and a member of The Net Zero Institute. She holds a PhD in Building Science from Istanbul Technical University and conducted post-doctoral research at the Indoor Environmental Quality Lab, focusing on work efficiency and energy performance in intelligent workplaces. Her research interests span sustainable building design, building performance simulations, post-occupancy evaluation, and thermal comfort. Dr. Gocer teaches courses such as DESC9169 Daylight in Buildings and DESC9014 Sustainable Construction Technologies.
Her work emphasizes evidence-based design strategies for climate-resilient buildings and workplaces. Recent research includes studies on living green walls, activity-based office design post-pandemic, and multisensory workplace environments. She has secured grants including 'Measuring vulnerability, costing risk, and designing transitions to a climate resilient housing system' (2025) and 'InBuilt: decarbonising building portfolios' (2022). Current research students include Fansong ZHOU, investigating lighting effects on sleep quality in elderly populations.
Key contributions include frameworks for evaluating neighborhood quality post-COVID-19 and analyses of climate risk in commercial buildings. Her publications address challenges in biophilic design, energy-efficient facade systems, and rural community resilience through cultural tourism.
