Matthew Cotterill

Dr Matthew Cotterill serves as a Lecturer in Clinical Embryology at the School of Medicine, University of Leeds since 2017, specializing in the integration of artificial intelligence within reproductive medicine education and clinical embryology practice.

• BSc (Hons) in Molecular Biology (2004)

His research focuses on transforming educational methodologies through AI applications, specifically investigating assessment reform policies, optimal AI implementation practices, student experience enhancement, and innovative teaching strategies in clinical embryology education. This builds upon his molecular biology foundation and 15+ years of professional experience in assisted reproductive technologies, including oocyte-follicle interaction research and clinical embryology practice.

As an educator, Cotterill manages curriculum development and delivery for five shared modules across full-time (CEART) and distance learning (CEDL) MSc Clinical Embryology programs while teaching medical students. He provides academic mentorship through personal tutoring and serves on program management committees, emphasizing scholarship-driven pedagogy to maintain teaching excellence.
