Matthew Biben is an Adjunct Professor of Law at the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School, where he has taught seminars in legal philosophy, federal crime, and corporate law and governance for over 20 years. He is also a litigation partner at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher in New York, serving as Co-Chair of the Financial Institutions Group and a member of the White Collar Defense and Investigations Group. His career integrates high-level legal practice, corporate leadership, and academic instruction.
His educational background includes a bachelor’s degree in Industrial and Labor Relations from Cornell University (1989) and a J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School (1992).
Biben's research and professional interests center on corporate law, regulatory enforcement, white collar defense, and legal philosophy. His expertise is drawn from decades of experience in government prosecution, corporate legal leadership, and complex litigation involving financial institutions and federal regulators.
