Dr. Matteo Scarponi is a Principal Enterprise Fellow at the University of Southampton's Southampton Marine and Maritime Institute. His research focuses on maritime safety, yacht and fishing vessel design, and the development of virtual reality (VR) simulators for improving helm performance. Scarponi has contributed to projects such as model-scale testing for seastate allowances and safety protocols for small fishing vessels. His work bridges ship science with behavioral science, emphasizing human factors in marine systems.
