Matteo Marfoglia

Matteo Marfoglia serves as Curriculum Lead for VERVE, the postgraduate performance company at Northern School of Contemporary Dance (NSCD), part of Leeds Conservatoire. An Italian dance artist and choreographer, he oversees artistic/educational aspects of the MA Contemporary Dance Performance program while mentoring students' creative and professional development.

His research focuses on integrating ballet training with contemporary dance practice for 21st-century students, evolving from his MA Dance Teaching & Facilitating at NSCD. He explores community-responsive choreography through projects like Together We Create in Penrhys and site-specific works commissioned by National Theatre Wales. As a certified Gaga Teacher, he synthesizes Naharin's movement language with ballet pedagogy.

His performance history includes tenures with Introdans (Netherlands) and National Dance Company Wales, collaborating with choreographers like Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui and William Forsythe. Recent works span movement direction for National Youth Theatre and Wales Millennium Centre productions.
