Matteo Binfarè is an Assistant Professor in the Finance Department at the Robert J. Trulaske, Sr. College of Business, University of Missouri. His research focuses on alternative investments, corporate finance, and institutional investing with emphasis on university endowments, foundations, and pension funds. He holds a Ph.D. in Finance from the University of North Carolina (2020), and M.Sc. and B.Sc. in Finance from Bocconi University (2014 and 2011). Prior to his academic career, he worked in Debt Capital Markets and Structured Finance at Mediobanca, an Italian investment bank, and passed all three levels of the CFA program.
Research Interests: Binfarè’s work explores how human capital and governance structures influence investment decisions in endowments, analyzing compensation practices of portfolio managers, and evaluating the role of debt financing in higher education institutions. His research has been published in the Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis and Review of Finance, and recognized with the Two Sigma Award (2019).
