Matt Pharr is Associate Professor and J. Mike Walker '66 Faculty Fellow in Mechanical Engineering at Texas A&M University, with joint affiliation in Materials Science & Engineering. Researches chemo-mechanical phenomena in energy and biomedical materials.
Research focuses on deformation/fracture mechanics of battery materials, soft material behaviors, irradiation effects on polymers, and biomechanics. Recent publications examine multi-scale material properties for battery applications and irradiation effects in medical polymers.
Teaching recognition includes Distinguished Achievement Award in Teaching (2022). Research supported by NSF, DoE, and industry partners.
