Dr. Matt Nicholl is a Reader in the Astrophysics Research Centre at Queen's University Belfast's School of Mathematics and Physics. His research focuses on cosmic explosions, black holes, and extreme astrophysical phenomena such as supernovae, tidal disruption events, and gravitational wave counterparts. He utilizes global and space-based telescopes to study energetic events involving massive stars, neutron stars, and black holes. Dr. Nicholl is particularly interested in understanding the physical mechanisms behind luminous transients and their implications for stellar evolution and relativistic processes.
