Matt Menzel is a Professor and Chair of the Mathematics and Computer Science Department at Marietta College since 2004. His academic expertise spans graph theory and sports analytics, with recent research focusing on NCAA Division I sports ratings and tournament modeling. He holds a Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of Kentucky (2004), following MA (2000) and BA (1998) degrees from the same university and Coe College, respectively.
Professionally, Menzel advises the Marietta College Math Club and serves as Vice President of the campus Phi Beta Kappa chapter. He actively contributes to the Ohio Section of the Mathematical Association of America (MAA), having chaired committees like CONSTUM and the Program Committee. His sabbatical work included groundbreaking projects on FCS football ratings and basketball tournament modeling, leading to an upcoming publication in Math Horizons.
Outside academia, Menzel’s wife Holly teaches Math/Statistics at Marietta, and they have two daughters, Grace and Jada.
