Bill Linderman is an Associate Dean in the College of Arts and Sciences at King University, Chair of the Department of Mathematics and Physics, and a Professor of Mathematics. He joined King University's math department in 1999 and spent a sabbatical as a Visiting Professor at Cornell University (2006/2007), teaching Calculus and Cryptology while studying piano performance and composition. He holds a Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of Memphis (1997), an M.S. from Virginia Tech (1990), and a B.A. from Erskine College (1987).
His research interests span mathematics education, combinatorial game theory, and interdisciplinary connections between music and mathematics. Linderman has published works such as Mancala as Nim and presented on topics like Rook Polynomials and Sets in Music at national AMS/MAA conferences. Beyond academia, he serves as King's Faculty Athletics Representative, overseeing NCAA compliance and student-athlete eligibility since 2004. He has led mission trips to India and Kenya, completed nearly 20 marathons, and maintains an active musical career with piano recitals featuring original compositions.
Professional service includes chairing the Faculty Athletics Committee and Compliance Committee, contributing to King's transition from NAIA to NCAA Division II. His personal interests combine academic rigor with artistic expression and athletic pursuits.
