Matt Fotis is a Professor of Theatre and Department Chair of Music, Theatre, and Fashion at Albright College. He teaches courses in improvisation, acting, and writing for performance while directing undergraduate research initiatives.
He earned his Ph.D. in Theatre from the University of Missouri (Raymond White Dissertation Fellow), an M.A. in Theatre History & Criticism from Illinois State University (James L. Fisher Outstanding Thesis Award), and a B.A. in Communications & Theatre Arts from Monmouth College.
His research focuses on Improvisational Theatre, Political Satire, and Comedy Studies, with publications analyzing sketch comedy’s role in political discourse and the evolution of long-form improv techniques like The Harold.
Recent article trends show his exploration of satire in the post-truth era, improvisation pedagogy, and the intersection of comedy with American cultural narratives.

Advising & Grants: He has advised over 10 ACRE projects, including "Yes, And...": Creating an Improv Curriculum for Children with ASD, and mentored students in playwriting, sketch comedy, and theatrical innovation.
Labs & Teams: He founded Albright Improv, Albright Sketch Society, and The Children’s Theatre of Albright. As co-executive producer of Fotis & Fotis Comedy, he develops community-based comedy series like The First Thursday Comedy Series.
