Nazım SARIKAYA

Nazım SARIKAYA serves as an Assistant Professor in the Acting Department at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Beykent University, where he has held academic positions since 2019, initially as a Research Assistant and currently as a Doctor Lecturer. His academic journey began with a Licence from Istanbul University's Faculty of Letters in 2010, followed by a Master's degree in 2015 and a Doctorate in 2018, both from Istanbul University's Institute of Social Sciences, focusing on comedy and ancient Greek theatre.

His educational background is as follows:

• Doctorate (2018): Institute of Social Sciences, Istanbul University. Thesis: "Self-Consciousness Perspective in Comedy, Character Production in Social and Physical Terms in Satire and Persian Traditions".
• Master's (2015): Institute of Social Sciences, Istanbul University. Thesis: "Grotesque Thought in Ancient Greek Comedy".
• Licence (2010): Faculty of Letters, Istanbul University.

Dr. Sarikaya's research interests center on Theatre Studies, particularly Comedy, Ancient Greek Theatre, Satire, and the intersection of ritual and drama. His scholarly work employs philosophical frameworks, such as Hegelian self-consciousness, to dissect comedic structures and explores the evolution of theatre from Dionysian rituals. He has also contributed to the fields of dramaturgy, playwriting, and forum theatre as tools for social and scientific awareness.

His recent publications reveal a consistent focus on theoretical and historical aspects of comedy, with an emphasis on ancient traditions and their relevance to contemporary practice. He frequently examines the coexistence of opposites in ritual and theatrical contexts, as well as satirical imitations that invert societal norms.

Dr. Sarikaya instructs courses such as Theatre History, Textual Analysis, Storytelling, and Puppet Making and Staging Techniques. He has supervised acting graduation projects and led workshops on dramaturgy and creative writing. Beyond the university, he has taught at Sadri Alışık Cultural Center and Adıgüzel Fine Arts High School.

Dr. Sarikaya actively engages in artistic collaborations, including interdisciplinary workshops with the Textile and Fashion Design Department on mythology-based storytelling and costume design. He spearheaded the "Bringing Science to the Stage" forum theatre initiative, which uses participatory theatre to enhance scientific literacy, in partnership with Beykent University's Science Communication Office.
