Mats Brusman is an Associate Professor at the Department of Behavioural Sciences and Learning (IBL) at Linköping University, affiliated with the Division of Learning, Aesthetics, and Natural Science (LEN). He holds a PhD in Culture Studies (2008) and an MA in History, alongside a degree as an Upper Secondary School Teacher from Linköping University (2002).
His research focuses on historical and cultural dimensions of urban change, postindustrial cities as social arenas, and the interplay between global discourses and local structures in urban planning. Current projects examine the role of culture in local development strategies. He teaches in programs such as the BA in Social and Cultural Analysis and the MA in Social and Welfare Studies.
Key research interests include urban sociology, cultural policy, and education's role in societal change. His publications address topics like sustainable urban planning, municipal governance, and cultural collaboration in development processes. He is affiliated with the Division of Migration, Ethnicity and Society (REMESO) and contributes to interdisciplinary research on ethnicity, migration, and education.
