Matilda Boyce

Matilda Boyce is a PhD candidate in Geology at The University of Western Australia (UWA), concurrently serving as a Casual Teaching Lecturer and Multi-Discipline Laboratory Analyst at the Centre for Microscopy, Characterisation & Analysis. Her research focuses on igneous and metamorphic petrology, isotope geochemistry, and early Earth evolution, particularly studying Archean anorthosites and lunar geology. She holds a BSc (2019) and BSc (Hons) (2020) from UWA, with international study at Cardiff University.

Research Interests: Matilda investigates ancient magmatic rocks and their implications for Earth’s early formation. Her work combines field studies with isotope geochemistry, including analysis of 3.58 Ga Pilbara Craton gneisses. She also participated in NASA’s Lunar and Planetary Institute internship (2023), contributing to lunar south pole geology studies for Artemis missions.

Labs/Teams: Collaborates with the Centre for Microscopy, Characterisation & Analysis and NASA’s Lunar and Planetary Institute. Her work bridges terrestrial and extraterrestrial geology, aiming to elucidate planetary evolution processes.
