Chris Fisher is a Senior Research Fellow at the School of Earth and Oceans, University of Western Australia. His research focuses on geochronology, radiogenic isotopes, and accessory minerals to investigate continental crust evolution and early Earth processes. He has contributed to studies of Archean complexes such as the Yilgarn Craton, Pilbara Craton, and Acasta Gneiss Complex.
Chris earned his PhD from the Memorial University of Newfoundland, where he developed laser ablation ICPMS methods for accessory minerals. His current work includes the Yilgarn 2020 initiative and the application of isotopic techniques to understand crustal fertility indicators and magmatic processes.
Research interests emphasize the use of zircon, monazite, apatite, and titanite for tracing crustal evolution. Recent studies analyze cratonic systems (e.g., North China Craton), gold deposits (Gruyere, Jundee), and early mantle differentiation through Sr isotopes in anorthosites. Collaborations include projects in Iceland, Greenland, and Antarctica.
He has led two grants from the Geological Survey of Western Australia (2022–2023 and 2024–2026), focusing on chemical and isotopic compositions of regional rocks. No scientific awards are explicitly mentioned. Supervised work details are listed as 3 entries but lack specific student names.
Labs/teams: Active participation in the Yilgarn 2020 initiative and international collaborations on crustal architecture and supercontinent assembly.
