Matia Vannoni is a Senior Lecturer in Public Policy at King's College London's Department of Political Economy, within the School of Politics & Economics. He holds a PhD from UCL, an MRes from LSE, and degrees from the University of Trento. His research focuses on legislative complexity, EU business-government relations, tobacco control policy, and local democracy transparency, supported by grants from the European Research Council, British Academy, and ESRC. He teaches courses on policy processes and evaluation and supervises PhD students in quantitative political economy, text analysis, and business-politics dynamics. Recent studies include exploring legislative clarity's impact on compliance and the economic effects of populism. He is currently on research leave for 2024, resuming office hours in 2025.
Key research areas include analyzing lobbying strategies in the EU, delegation in legislative texts, and the interplay between policy and public health. His work appears in journals like Journal of Political Economy, Political Science Research and Methods, and Globalization and Health. Collaborations involve institutions like the Innocenzo Gasparini Institute for Economic Research (Bocconi University) and projects funded by major academic grants.
